Oral Pathology

Oral pathology is the treatment of cysts and tumors in the mouth, lower jaw or face. A biopsy involves the removal or a piece of the suspicious tissue, which is then sent to a laboratory for a microscopic examination that will accurately diagnose the problem. Our oral surgeons are trained to diagnose and treat oral disease, including oral cancer. More than 48,000 Americans will be diagnosed with oral cancer each year, according to the Oral Cancer Foundation. Early detection saves lives. Our oral surgeons can assess abnormal growths in the mouth, including lumps or thickenings, and perform biopsies to determine the cause.
